Montreal artist and producer Tim Rideout offers up his third CD release for free download via the internet - the original motion picture soundtrack to the Alliance Atlantis film "Elephant Shoes.
But the CD won’t be appearing in any stores – or in any realm of the physical – unless you download it yourself. The ambient and lounge-y soundtrack will be available via the internet only, available exclusively from www.TimRideout.com. Oh - and did we mention it’s also FREE?
Full of ambient-lounge grooviness, the CD is well-crafted, hip and sophisticated - reminiscent of the early days of the Cafe del mar mix CD. The download itself is one sixteen minute track, containing nearly all of the music used in the film. But if you’re still “old school” and require a physical disc, Rideout has also put together self-printable graphic art to make yourself a CD sticker, insert and tray card.

Like many of this “digital renaissance man’s” creations, Tim plays all of the instruments on this release. The resulting mellow and minimal soundtrack is a slick, sublime journey through the mind and bachelor pad of director Christos Sourligas. “It’s not lounge that sucks,“says Rideout.”I hate that word for a ‘genre’ anyway. It’s not the Café del Mar stuff everybody got tired of after 8 albums. It’s a real film soundtrack, and a journey through the story – and the music stands on its own, while still being an extension of the director’s creativity.”
About the Film
Shot in one location in 4 ½ days with two actors, three crew members and costing a mere $10,000 — financed entirely by the producer’s credit cards — the film Elephant Shoes is an honest and clever look at what might happen if a long-term relationship is squeezed into just half a day.
Rideout’s music brings the film to life and draws the listener further into Sourligas’ world with a soundtrack that augments and melds perfectly with the emotions of the film.
